About the founder
I'm Aiku, a rising senior at Boston University double majoring in Biology and Psychology, and a Dean's List student on a pre-medical track. I started College Recipe because I've lived the college process, I know what admissions committees actually look for, and I've seen firsthand what separates the students who get in from the ones who don't. College Recipe is a northeast-based consulting service, and while we help students across the country narrow their choices and find schools best suited to them, our deepest expertise is in schools across the northeast and New England corridor.
Before founding College Recipe, I worked as a private tutor guiding high school students through applications, essays, and test prep. The results speak for themselves, students I worked with earned acceptance to Ivy League institutions including Harvard and Dartmouth. I also served as a mentor through BU's Transfers Transitioning to BU (TTBU) program, supporting incoming students as they navigated one of the biggest transitions of their lives.
Outside of College Recipe, I conduct research at BU's School of Medicine focused on congenital heart disease. I'm also a volunteer at the Animal Rescue League of Boston and a former clinical volunteer at Tufts Medical Center. I care deeply about people and outcomes, and that shows up in every session.
While I founded College Recipe, our team includes multiple tutors and consultants. If you ever feel like a different teaching style would suit you better, just ask. We'll match you with someone who's a better fit. Your success matters more than anything else.
We also have a network of 50+ volunteer mentors, current students and graduates from schools across the country including every Ivy League institution, MIT, CMU, UCLA, University of Michigan, CWRU, University of Miami, Boston University, Boston College, and many more. These are not tutors or consultants, just real students and alumni who have agreed to speak with prospective applicants and share their honest experience. Students can request to connect with someone from a school they're interested in and get the kind of insight you can't find in a brochure.

Volunteer mentors
We're always looking for students and graduates who are willing to share their honest college experience with prospective applicants. No selling, no tutoring, just a conversation about how you got in and what it's really like.
Talk to prospective students about your application process, what worked, and what you wish you knew.
No set schedule. You're matched with students on your own time, as often or as rarely as you like.
A single honest conversation can change a student's entire application strategy. Your experience matters.
This is purely voluntary. You're not a tutor or consultant, just someone willing to pay it forward.
