SAT Score Guarantee Policy

Effective date: June 19, 2026 · College Recipe (thecollegerecipe.com)

Plain-language summary: If your official SAT score was under 1250 when we started, you completed all required sessions and practice tests, and your official score didn't go up by 150+ points, you get a full refund of your tutoring package fee. This guarantee applies only to SAT tutoring packages — not to essay, resume, or college consulting services.

1. What this guarantee covers

College Recipe offers a 150-point SAT score improvement guarantee exclusively on SAT tutoring packages (packages that include SAT tutoring sessions as a core component). This guarantee does not apply to:

This guarantee also makes no representation about college admission outcomes. SAT scores are one of many factors in admissions decisions, and College Recipe does not guarantee admission to any college or university.

2. Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for a refund under this guarantee, you must meet all of the following conditions before your first tutoring session:

  1. Official baseline score under 1250: You must have an official College Board SAT score (from a real, proctored test — not a practice test) of 1249 or below at the time you enroll in a tutoring package.
  2. Package enrollment: You must be enrolled in a tutoring package, not individual sessions purchased separately.
  3. Baseline score on file: You must provide your official score report to College Recipe before or at your first session. Scores submitted after sessions have begun are not valid as a baseline.

3. Student obligations

To remain eligible for the guarantee throughout your tutoring engagement, you must complete all of the following:

  1. Minimum 5 tutoring sessions: You must attend and actively participate in at least 5 scheduled tutoring sessions. Sessions you cancel within 24 hours of the scheduled time, or no-shows, do not count toward this minimum.
  2. All assigned practice tests: You must complete every practice test assigned between sessions and submit your results to your tutor within 48 hours of completion. Unsubmitted or incomplete practice tests void the guarantee.
  3. Official post-program SAT: Your improvement must be measured on an official, proctored College Board SAT taken within 90 days of completing your final tutoring session. Improvement on school-based tests (PSAT, SAT School Day) counts only if administered by College Board under standard conditions.
  4. Good-faith participation: You must engage in good faith — arriving prepared, doing the work between sessions, and communicating openly with your tutor. College Recipe reserves the right to void the guarantee if a student is found to have repeatedly no-showed, disengaged, or otherwise failed to participate in the program as designed.

4. How to claim a refund

If you meet all eligibility and obligation requirements and your official SAT score did not improve by 150 or more points, here is how to request your refund:

  1. Email thecollegerecipe@gmail.com with the subject line "Guarantee Claim — [Your Name]".
  2. Attach your official College Board score report showing your post-program score.
  3. Include the original score report you submitted as your baseline, or confirm the date you provided it.
  4. Submit your claim within 30 days of receiving your official score report. Claims submitted after this window will not be honored.

College Recipe will review your claim within 5 business days. If your claim is approved, a full refund of the tutoring package fee will be issued to the original payment method within 7–10 business days.

5. Refund amount

The refund covers the tutoring package fee only — the amount paid for the package that included SAT tutoring sessions. If your package was bundled with other services (e.g., essay revision + SAT tutoring), only the tutoring portion of the fee is refundable. College Recipe will calculate and disclose the allocation at the time of purchase.

Refunds do not include payment processing fees charged by third-party processors.

6. Conditions that void this guarantee

The guarantee is void if any of the following occur:

7. No guarantee on college admissions outcomes

College Recipe provides educational support and advisory services. We do not guarantee admission to any college, university, or program. Admissions decisions are made solely by the institutions and depend on many factors outside our control. Nothing in our materials, sessions, or communications should be interpreted as a guarantee of any admissions outcome.

8. Limitation of liability

College Recipe's total liability under this guarantee is limited to the amount you paid for the applicable tutoring package. In no event shall College Recipe be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind, including lost opportunities or emotional distress.

9. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Any dispute arising under this policy shall be resolved in the courts of Suffolk County, Massachusetts, unless both parties agree to an alternative resolution method.

10. Changes to this policy

College Recipe reserves the right to update this policy at any time. The policy in effect at the time you purchased your package governs your claim — we will not retroactively apply stricter terms to existing students. We will post the effective date of any update at the top of this page.
